Wall-e for best picture?

Disney is screaming and kicking for Wall-e to be nominated for the Best Picture at the next Academy Awards. Walt Disney Studios Chairman Dick Cook spoke to the New York Times, “If we did’nt do it, I don’t think we’d be giving the movie its due.”

Back in 1991, Beauty and the Beast was nominated for best picture, but in 2001 the Academy Award committee (or whatever), announced a "Best Animated Picture" Award. Now there is an uproar that Wall-e is nominated for both Best Picture and Best Animated Picture, saying that not only will it result in the dividing of the Academy but also resulting in a loss in the both categories because some voters may only vote for the film in either category.

Is this a bold move from Disney, maybe resulting in their picture not winning either awards, or will they not "be giving the film it's due" if they only nominate for best animated? You decide, leave a comment.
