This film from the Coen brothers will have to be a fast-growing modern day classic. It's originality, it's script, and it's own sense of being tasteless, yet still very tasteful are the things that make this one the best and most unique movies of the year.Synopsis:
An ousted CIA officials (John Malkovich) memoir accidentally falls into the hands of two gym employees (Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand) intent on exploiting their find. George Clooney and Tilda Swinton also star as two different characters that get caught between sex, love, relationships and divorces and without knowing it, being a huge part of this story.
Review:
This black comedy was the opening film for the 2008 Venice film festival, and I agree, it should be, this film deserves as much praise as it can get. The cleverly written script is spectacular, excluding the pervasive swearing. It has so many twists and turns, you will never know which way this film is going. And of course, this film has to contain the Coen brothers shock horror gore and death.
As I mentioned earlier, this film has it's own way of being tasteless, but still managing to be very tasteful. It is filled with plenty of "keep your laughing to yourself" jokes, yet some people may be offended
The Verdict:
This great film may only appeal to certain viewers that are not easily offended. You can feel as if you are in the middle of a nuclear war, because of the excessive uses of the "F-Bomb". It's still a fantastic film that I found somewhat enjoyable.
